L4D Contamination 1

Staring through the glass window, Edward examined the specimen. It was a creature that was about the size of a full grown human, and looked like one too. But it wasn't. Edward watched as the creature jumped from tree branch to tree branch. It made loud howls as it jumped. This was a Hunter. Three people stood behind Edward, taking notes on the creature.

"This Hunter used to be a man. Aged around his early twenties, he was infected by a dog." Edward said to the three young people. "Examinations showed that the body we found near him in an apartment was that of his sister. This is proof that the infection won't hold back on anyone!" Edward looked over to the group. They were all busy taking notes.

"How long did it take for him to become infected?"  One of the students asked. Edward looked at her briefly.

"We've estimated that for a Hunter transformation, it takes only a few hours to change. We've concluded that this Hunter was holding out with his sister before infection, and on a run for food, was bit and infected, and then killed his sister." A stunned look came across the students' faces. "We also noted another infected being who stayed close to this Hunter."

"What do these things eat?" A young man, with curly black hair asked.

"Let's find out." Edward said with a grin. He slipped on a yellow hazmat suit and grabbed a pail in a nearby closet. "You three are very lucky to be seeing this on your first day." Edward walked over to a door and pressed dozens of buttons. The door opened up to a chamber, and Edward walked in. The door quickly sealed itself and locked Edward inside the tiny room. Another door opened and Edward walked into the large room. Grass, trees, rocks, everything here was simulating a forest environment.

The students all watched through the large glass window as the Hunter jumped into the shadows. They feared as they expected the Hunter to jump out and attack their mentor and kill him right then and there.

Edward cautiously took a few steps forward, listening to the surroundings. A faint growl could be heard deep within the canopy of the trees.

"Come on, where are you?" Edward continued walking forward, and a very loud growl was heard. Out of the top of a nearby tree, the Hunter jumped out. It screeched as it readied its claws to shred Edward.

The students watched what seemed like the gruesome death of Edward, but were very surprised. In a flash, Edward had reached into the pail and pulled out a slab of meat, and tossed it to the side. The Hunter immediately landed in front of Edward then jumped towards the meat. It started tearing at the meat as Edward calmly walked back to the door.

Pressing a series of buttons, the door opened and Edward walked back into the chamber. The door immediately shut, and two robotic guns popped out of the walls. They sprayed Edward with a light green mist. Soon, Edward emerged from the door and took his suit off.

"Hunters enjoy almost anything they can get their hands on. A Hunter relies on its smell and hearing, because it is blind. I probably smelled really good to that Hunter, but, the smell of the meat was more tantalizing than I was. That's what got it to stop attacking me." Edward said before the students could ask anything.

"I have a question." The curly black haired man said. He was about 22 years old.

"Yes, Josh?" Edward asked. He walked over to the closet and neatly put the hazmat suit away.

"You said that there was another infected found nearby this Hunter. What was it?" He asked.

"Oh yes! I almost forgot. Now, when we found this Hunter, there was another infected. I believe you've studied them before, haven't you?"

"We've studied the common infected and 2 different Special Infected." The girl explained.

"Which ones were those?" Edward asked inquisitively.

"The Hunter and the Boomer." Josh replied.

"Excellent. So this will all be new to you, then." Edward grinned. "Come with me." Edward walked out of the room and into a hallway. Many scientists were speeding down the halls. Josh and the others followed Edward as they awaited to see what other Special Infected there are.
